yup definately dump Norton, it could also be that causing your PC to freeze.
I would suggest using AVG Anti-virus (there is a free version of this) or another anti-virus program I like to use is called Kaspersky Anti-virus although this one isn't free

Well, my Norton expires in about 23 days.............so I guess I won't be renewing that then

I'll have a go with AVG Anti-virus. What about firewall, or just use the std windows one?

PSthe only MS security product I use is Defender Beta....again it's free, grab it from the Windows update site.

Zonealarm won't conflict with it, nor does AVG with either prog.

It'd be good to cut right down on the amount of bolt on security tools, and use one that's vaguely embedded in the OS.

Or just get a mac. Really. Unless you need PC stuff (mapsource is presently the only stumbling block to me ditching all windows stuff at home), why fanny about with it.

You don't see plumbers sitting there at home of an evening resoldering all the joints under the sink, which is why a lot of professional IT folk don't bother with Windows either.
