Clarke and I went out today to pick-up his first bike(project bike) Derbi Senda 2000 50cc. As some of you may see, there is something missing - but we have no idea what (please tell us)! His 16th birthday isn't till february so we have a few months to get it cleaned up and ready for the big day. So if anybody has any spares, tips, etc. please feel free to let us know and this will be much appreciated. The thread will be updated every now and then with new photographs off the progress. First night of ownership!!:D:D

I`d have thought now you`ve got a job you`d buy him a new one. :augie

:D

Hey Clarke.......happy first bike,mate. :clap

You`ll never forget this one,no matter how many you end up owning over the years.

Both of you...Get every kind of manual or parts book you can.
Look on tinternet for manual PDF`s etc.
There`s bound to be a related website forum too.

Strip,check and clean everything.
Don`t assume something will be okay.

Copper grease every thread on reassembly.

Above all....have fun. :thumb2

enjoy

have fun, me and my boy did the same a few years ago with an MTX125, stripped it down, cleaned and painted, new clutch and cables.

He did 250 miles on it in the first year then brought a car, little fecker :) the time we spent together doing all the work tho was brill :thumb2

doh :blast i flogged a gilera gsm supermoto just the other week with a freshly rebuilt engine for £125!

the senda runs the same engine as the gilera gsm, hak, rs50 ( i believe) and many other of the 50cc trail bikes.

good luck :)

Thanks guys for info. Up this morning stripped it down made a list then down to local bike shop, got some of the parts, rest on order then on to ebay found more bits and bobs. Its been fun he's had all my snap-on tools out of the tool chest, now I cant find any of them:blast wot fun:D

Cheers Aidan. I can't wait to get it finally going. we stripped the Hubs today and put in new bearings and cleaned up the sprocket and disk brakes. got a fair bit to do but its all about me learning the mechanics off the bike so Im enjoying it.:thumb2:bounce1

This is the progress so far. Hubs stripped and cleaned out. New bearings, and Fork protectors and new back caliper pads. Clarke is enjoying the project and hopefully we'll get it running as soon as parts have arrived and been fitted.
