Nav 3 Garmin 2820 Car Speaker

Hi all
I just got my speaker for the car that plugs into the cigar lighter & was wondering what are the two connections on the side of the speaker for, there is no reference in the box for the speaker to explain this ?

I'm pretty sure they are for hooking up the reverse switch to the GPS's that support dead reconning...

Correct. There is one plug there for speedsensor and reverse light input, and another plug there for NMEA (National Marine Electrical Association) communication. Neither one is used by the 2820.
