Anyone got any info on nav 4 vs zumo660 the bmw dealer near me said the zumo660 will fit the nav mount but you need to cross some wires over to get the wheel thing to work - in Australia I'm looking at $1400 vs $600 big difference is it worth the wedge ! :eek

I don't know how much disposable you haveand what use you would realistically make of a GPS unit. Maps, music,POI's?

I looked into it and given what I have read on the topic the wheel gives little extra when on the move.

I went with the 660 in the end because I find that once I have set my unit I merely refer to it occasionally to make sure I'm on track.

There are enough screens and computers in daily life. The Zumo is just an aid not to get lost if I have a purpose or destination otherwise my purpose is the gets lost on new roads and see what surprises I discover.

Does the 660 fit ok to the mount or do you have to make any mods to wiring etc and do you get features such as charging - I'd rather spend the difference on other stuff like pegs and bars etc :thumb

I use Zumo 660 and it is Perfect

660 goes straight in. Wheel doesn't work but IMO it is a POS anyway. 660 Zumo's are on sale now as new models coming out.

I have used both extensively.
660 on my old GSa and Nav 4 on the K1600. As far as I am concerned they are the same unit. I never had full bmw mount with the 660 and so never missed it. The Nav 4 has an icon to find your nearest bmw dealer but you could easily programme in the locations if you wanted that feature.
What is important is that, certainly on the K1600, is that the music feature on the Nav4 is disabled. Probably since the bike has its own iPod link. I am not sure if that is the case on all Nav4 units.
Aside from that they are the same and in 60k miles I found the 660 more than sufficient for Navigation, Music (16gb micro sd card) camera alerts and Phone.
That is the route I would go down.

Good call the music feature is one of the features I'm after looks like the 660 is the way forward

:rob:rob:rob:rob

+ you get a car mount with the 660 and I think you don't with the Nav 4

Mike

Does the 660 charge and switch off when you turn the bike on and off. Also can you lock it using the bmw mount that is fitted on the. TE

Many thanks

Yes Yes and Yes

The 660 does all things the IV does and more , the only thing is the wiggle wheel does not work.
