Hi,

Got a New Navigator V and a 4 year old Sena SMH10 headset. When I tried to play music I get an error message on the Nav V "need to have an A2DP headset connected".

The Sena SMH10 is an A2DP headset. It all works OK giving directions and the phone calls.

Anybody know why won't it play music?

I am thinking the Sena may need a firmware upgrade.

Regards

Chris

Chris, You might have more luck if you post in the relevant GPS section of the forum.

Have you made a new folder on the Nav 5 called MP3 and put some music tracks into it ? because if you have and when you have it connected to the Sena and looked at the bluetooth connection in settings then you should see a headset and music symbol highlighted in blue.

If all this is true, then there should be no reason for it not to work.

Above is correct also make sure it's a good quality card as I had similar issue. But decent card and saved to a folder great no issues

how about then trying to listen to streamed music (spotify, bbc, etc) from a phone?
It seems to me that there either is a choice to connect the phone to the Sena (via bluetooth) or the V to the Sena.
anyone know how to get around this?

I connect my Sena SMH5 to my Zumo 660 "as a phone".
Sometimes when I play music it sounds "tinny" so I turn the Sena off then on again, it re-connects and usually the sound is then pretty good.

On the subject of phones. I connect iPhone to Zumo as a phone then Sena to Zumo as a phone.

The Senna will not operate the phone function on the Zumo (use the screen to answer a call) but the Sena will operate the music functio
i.e hard press to stop/start music and turn for volume etc

I've got this combination and it all works fine for me :)

You may have to "software update" your Sena(s)

Try reboot/ cancel all pairings ,
Then pair sat nav to helmet,
Then phone to sat nav, then phone to helmet,
Took me a couple of attempts but now all work.
Don't ask me why, it's got something to do with how they allocate talking to each other!

Hi,

You might have the Nav V paired as an HFP device, this won't support music but is the device profile usually used for GPS voice instructions. You need to make sure the Nav V is paired as an HFP + A2DP device. Have a look at paragraph 6.3.2 of the current version of the SMH10 instructions - you may also need a firmware update for the SMH10 :)

Usually, the recommendation is to fire up the Nav V before switching on the Sena headset. Also, as stated above (and in the Sena instruction manual), you should pair the Nav V to the headset as a phone as this gives the A2DP connectivity.

I use this combination and its flawless…….so you have either not got the correct card/ or music format in the nav ..if you have …sounds like you are not connecting properly ..the sena handbook shows diagrams of pairing items together…

for basic music and nothing else..just pair the nav to the sena…as posted above when connected there is a musical icon that lights blue …find this in the bluettoth folder on the nav

If playing music from an iPhone….pair the iPhone to the nav ..then pair the nav to the sena…

Thanks for the info.

I think I have got it sorted, but it took a bit of twiddling, it seemed to be a combination of issues but the replies helped me to eventually nail it.

I tried multipoint pairing and it got the music working and sat nav directions but disconnected the phone. No amount of twiddling would get the phone permanently connected again.

I eventually unpaired everything then rebooted everything and started from scratch.

First paired the phone to the nav 5 then paired the nav 5 to the Sena but only with phone pairing (not multipoint) as I want the phone to operate through the sat nav and not direct to the Sena.

I never did a firmware upgrade on the Sena though.

It seemed to work of the bike so will test it out tomorrow on the bike.

Thanks for the heads up.

Chris

i have loaded music to a memory card on the NAV 5 and play the music that way using the NAV 5 app. but looking at the replies above is it also possible to play the music from my iphone via the NAV 5 ? I know I can pair my phone to the headset but I have the NAV 5 paired to the headset and my phone paired to the NAV 5

think thats clear thanks Terry
