NAV VI and Mapsource

I am sure I read some threads here that you can't use the NAV VI with Mapsource for some reason (to create and send routes). Well I rebuilt my computer with Windows 10 and loaded both Mapsource and Basecamp but found to my delight that Mapsource doesn't seem to have any issue sending routes and waypoints to the Nav VI. Am I missing something ?

Maybe it’s me but why use Mapsource when Basecamp is much more versatile AND is Garmin’s software that supersedes Mapsource?

Apparently so:

To test it, make a route and ride it.

I also like mapsource but I share my routes with mates and find I can copy and paste from mapsource to basecamp and produce gpx routes to share
