I have had my "Navigator II" since February 05 and yesterday I noticed a small bubble behind the protective film covering the screen, it has now spread over the entire screen, making viewing very difficult.

Has anyone else experienced this? And was it covered by the warranty?

Regards,

Bruce.

Is the protective film not a service item which is replaced on a regular basis like my P.D.A.?
Mike.

I don't think the film is a service item. It has now gone crinkly, a bit like a cellophane sweet wrapper.

This may be a REALLY stupid question, but, is the film you mention not just there for protection of the screen when packed and supposed to be removed when you receive the unit ?

Save face!

Quit while you're ahead Bruce. This could end in tears.

Here's your get out of jail card; even though I removed the protective plastic film used in shipping (ahem!) I did have to change my unit due to a "white-out" line that ran across the screen obliterating the map details underneath it.

No hasle from the dealer to change.

Good luck. You might need it.

Bruce,

I had the same situation. Rubbed the bubble and it tore. Rather than fix the unit, garmin sent me a new one this past june. Mine was beyond wty period.

I've put a layer of the same stuff I put on my pda to protect the screen...no hassles so far...

Cheers chaps,

I took it to my nearest dealer (130 mile round trip) and was told they've had two other ones back like it & are waiting on a reply from BMW as to what to do. And to give them a call at the end of next week.

Not exactly the response I would have liked, considering I called them prior and was told to bring it in.

Bruce
