I'm having problems loggiing on automatically.
Just had laptop rebuilt so when I tried to make this site my home page I have to keep logging on by typing my name in the box. It does remember my password though.

Usually I click on home page which then takes me to forum page and a jolly greeting "Welcome back Steve B".

I think this has something to do with cookies, not sure.

Any know what I need to do to get back to auto logging on?

Cheers for any help

Steve,

I am no expert but it sounds like your internet browser is not accepting cookies as you suspected. If you are using one of the usual browsers go into your internet settings and alter the settings to accept cookies and you should be okay.

Thanks Hops but where do I find those internet settings? I have looked at all the toolbars and can't find what I'm looking for.
Am presently using IE as my browser.
As you can tell, I can get a PC to start but any problems then there's tears followed by screaming abdabs!

 :banghead:

When in Internet Explorer, go to tools , internet options, the click on the privacy tab this will show you what level of cookies you can accept, alter as needed, stick to low or medium if you are not sure what to use.

Thanks Prag

Looked there this morning but obviously confused as to what the little slider did. Have reduced to lowest setting now and I'll see what that does. If no good will by new laptop! :D

Fekkin 'ell !!!!!!

That's rather like saying 'excuse me, i'd like to buy another car please.......the ashtrays are full on this one!'

Steve.......it's easily solved.......it is in internet options, under 'advanced ' i believe.....DOn't lower all the sttings from that slider to 'loe' or you 'll get all sorts of spam popups and shit happening........check out the advanced tab and look for something about cookies......I use mozilla now so i can't rememebr offhand where it is and I'm pissed right now, but if you can't find it, dont ffs bin the laptop and dont lower those security settings too much...post again tommorrow and we'll see if we can sort it out......

Off to bed now
