metzeler tourance??????????????????????????????

Tourances hard to beat.Decent grip and long lasting.(not EXP variety though).
Other tyres have caught up though,so do a search.
The important question is....what do you expect/want to do with them?.

Conti Trail attacks, awesome, fast warm up, mega grip, great in the wet, though they do squirm a bit on overbanding

personally don't get on with Tourance feel like lego blocks and inspire 0% confidence wet or dry. Many people love them though so it must just be me

agree, i dont like the tourance either, seems more grip with the attacks,
someone will be along to differ though shortly,
when all said and done, all major brand tyres are ok, and its down to what you wanna do on em

Tyres

I have always found the round black ones are pretty good.

I'd only ridden on the original style Tourance since I came back to bikes in 2003. Seemed like a great tyre with enough grip that you can ride all the way to the sidewall and use all of the tread.

I've been extremely happy with them for 59,000 miles, particulalry as ridden gently 12,000 miles to a set is easy.

Then I decided I wanted more off road focus and fitted a pair of Heidenau K60's. First impressions were downright scary but the tyres bedded in, mold release wore away and I got used to them. What a tyre, hugely better off road on softer surfaces than the Tourance and amazing grip on the road as well. I'm not quite round to the sidewall yet but nearly. Only one line of molding blobs left to go:D

Cheaper than Tourance as well although I don't expect the same life from them.

If it's any help, (which it won't be) I like the old Tourance and the EXP. Both work fine for me on my bike, on the roads I ride (and the bit of off-road), for the type of riding I do.

Problem is tyres are a very personal thing and what suits me won't necessarily suit you. No help really.

Correct I couldn't agree more ! probably the single most subjective thing on a bike. Best option ( other than trying them all ) is to get the opinion of someone who's riding style you know and who's opinion you trust.

just got a set of conti trail attacks from mynetmoto.com delivered for 185EUR...top tyres in my opinion, difficult to find down here though.

You'll get a million different opinions on this one. I have a mate who rides so slowly round corners he'd be fine on tyres from the 1920s...

All I can say is that Bridgestone Trail Wings have less grip than I need in the wet but steer very well, more like a pure road tyre. My Michelin Anakees are great wet or dry and look the part :augie but the steering is not so good at low speed (needs a bit more of a shove on the bars to turn)

After reading this thread I went and checked my tourances - I virtually squared off again on the rear - so (without wanting to hijack completely), what tyre has the longest life? I do 500 miles a week irrespective of the weather so would quite like a long life tyre. Tourances do OK for me, but am quite happy to try something different (lets face it - it won't be on the bike for too many months!)

you wont go wrong on the old tourances,

loved em...

altho im on mitchelin anakee at moment, and i just dont think they are gona be as long lasting as tourances

Used many of the old Tourances... Usually looking for eBay deals though and most of 'em will do pretty well. Now have a Trail Attack rear which seems good and the natural progression for many Metz boys. I started on T66 Mich's and everyone seemed to hate 'em but they were OK so things move on and so do tastes...
