I've been surfing through all the comms threads for a while now and just wondering can anyone answer a question re Bluetooth. Basically I tour with mates using autocom and kenwood walkie talkie. We are now looking at Bluetooth and two have made the shortlist cardo scala pack talk or sena 20s can anyone say if either of these live up to the marketing speak about the range Bluetooth to Bluetooth between bikes ??

The packtalk is in my opinion the best of the bunch with dmc we have used them for apx very clear coms as a group of 4 we can be 3-4 miles apart lead to tail and with the piggy back the lead rider can talk to everyone and everyone to each other

+1 on the packtalk, older generations of bluetooth is probably about a mile

Sena have a device which allows you to use a 2 way radio with your Bluetooth headset. That way you get the range you want and wireless intercoms :thumb2

Yes looked at that although a bit pricey

what is the piggy back ? Do you use a ptt or is the vox adjustable enough to prevent it going off in the wind and annoying the rest of the group

Piggy back is where the lead bike uses each other set to extend its transmit ion lent hie 1-2-3-4 so no 1 uses 2 extra range to 3 and 4
No ptt
Vox is very adjustable either via the app or Manually

in our group most use the sena sr10 connected to a kenwood and they blue tooth this to a 20s …they work superbly , no dropped signals and the range can be decent, but that depends on where you actually are…for instance out in the open country gives a range of around a mile where as in the city you struggle for this range due to buildings etc

one of my friends has the sena sr10 connected to his kenwood and uses the inter phone 5 .that is just superb . he has a remote adjuster for the inter phone on his bars ,this way he can adjust the headset without removing his hands.

They are expensive but you get what you pay for , the Sena SR10 is far away the best bet to bluetooth your kenwood . it is much clearer than VOX and will give a better range

One of the reasons for going Bluetooth is the lack of space for autocom and kenwood on the lc. I'd like to hold onto the kenwood as its bombproof charges from the bike and gives a good range. However some of the ranges quoted on Bluetooth alone are quite impressive. As anyone who uses comms knows you don't have conversations at high speed it's usually in towns looking for signs/roads or any stunning ladies that needs to be appreciated by the whole group. So do I really need the kenwood brick and the extra expense of the sr10?

Wouldn't it be simpler if you could try before you buy

Thanks for the information everyone however after going to the Northern Ireland motorcycle show another contender has entered the mix. Interphone ! A bit more expensive than the sena and only links to 4 bikes. The question that couldn't be answered by the vendor is if I am paired to my mates chatting to them and the phone rings, will my mates all hear my side of the phone call?
Also the pillion, will they hear all the conversation or the riders conversation only.
Dont want to get caught out by the better half on the back when a mate calls a hot chick on the right or a hot chick phones me( ok the last one would never happen but you get the drift)
On the flip side when I talk to my pillion(wife giving me a hard time for checking out the talent) do my mates get to hear my domestic woes again that's for taking the time for your thoughts I'd rather go by experience than sales pitches
