Not sure where this should be .so move as you see fit . Ok I have been in touch with a company that works in this stuff and have been told that it would be easy enough to make up Fork tubes in Black or Grey . It would just depend on numbers to make it worth there while , So if any intrested parties out there give me a shout about lengths and width , and ammounts needed . Otherwise its a non starter .
Many Thanks

I'd love a set of black for my 1200gs - they're starting to show a lot of stone chips! So count me in for definite

I would go with a set on my 1100GS black in preference but I don't really mind.

Get Lizard Skins

Before going to a lot of trouble you might want to check out Halfords cycle section. They do neoprene covers called Lizard Skins for cycle swing arms and they are perfect for the lower forks; all you need to do is get the scissors out and cut slots in to fit around the brake caliper mounts. I have them fitted to my 1150 - see pic. I thnk they are £10 apiece.

Was looking to cover the whole fork leg top till near bottom ,Is that not suitable for everyone .?? Forgot to say they will be using velcro as this is what they use in factory .Will give it a few days before i report back to them with numbers . They will be made from 1.5,2 mm thick neoprene . Have sent a picture away of front leg (from my bike ) .Will wait and see.

I'm interested in some of these to cover my very scruffy looking forks!

Let me know how your inquiries progress - I'm thinking of full coverage if possible.

Cheers

keep us posted Geno :thumb2

Yep... I would go for them.. full length. Black for an 1100 - ideally all ready to fit... I know I would make a balls-up cutting bits out and such. :thumb2

I realise they will tidy up scruffy forks and provide bouncy protection against stones etc but won't neoprene hold water against the fork leg?

What is it with sticking this that and the other on our bikes.......protect it from what exactly.... They will encourage dirt ingress, scratch what they are trying to protect etc..........another fad....like the so called tank cover protectors, you fit them then forget about them thinking they are protecting your bike, then remove them to find that it has done more damage than good....

If you insist on fork protection then why not just put that 'soft' clear sticky film over them.............I hear wrapping up your bike in cotton wool with a heated blanket also works............

One piece sleeves that you have to drop the forks to fit do just this and are complete sh1te IMHO.

I guess, as these ones velcro together they will at least be able to breath where they seal :nenau

Have to say, however, I tend to agree with the Captains post.

I've had mine on for a couple of years so why don't I take a peek underneath them when I get home from work and report back on the condition of the paintwork. :thumb Then we'll know for sure.

fork gaitors?

I Geno .

If you mean gaitors to go over the sliders R80RT ones fit, have had these on my 1150 for 7years. The top plastic ring wiill require a couple of turns of
insulating tape to be a firm fit.You can use jubilee clips top and bottom, but I use cable ties at the top as it's a bit of a fiddle getting them to miss cables etc at the topend. These are available from Moto Bins at resonable cost, worth every penny.
dave gs. (ps, any one with a k1100LT these also fit these, had them on both of mine.)

I put a bagster cover over my tank to cover the scratches that were there when I bought the bike.. far simpler and MUCH cheaper than a respray... When I finally get the tank resprayed I will happily say bye bye to the cover - put it on ebay and get back the £40 it cost me.

The silver paint on my forks gets on my nerves - always has done... would love to get them resprayed too.. but once again its down to money.

I like the idea of black forks.. simple as that. and this is a cheap way to do it.

Theres not much you can get to 'individualise' an 1100 - certainly not much if you're as broke as I always seem to be.

Comments like the above are a bit 'rich' coming from someone with a....

The Tank thing that I mentioned and by your own admission you would get rid of...because you use it to cover up not to protect it.
I have been told that tank covers do more damage as petrol and debris find there way in causing staining and scratches...

......Black forks.....cheap...try black gaffer tape.....

My bike is fully loaded....but what's the big deal...I'm not saying don't do it because it's too much bling!....Or have you got a problem because I have more bling than you......

The point I made is a valid one.... Some things that are put on our bikes to protect them actually do more harm...

Don't have a pop at me thinking I have bags of money more than you...as it seems topical in your post and I feel a slight bit of hostility........

Bling is one thing- I'm all for it.... If you read my post properly and dont jump to silly conclusions I even recomend an alternative with the clear plastic sticky stuff......or Black insulating tape/gaffer/sticky back plastic.......

Your idea of getting fork neoprene things is not to protect but to cover up the silver colour.........?

Yes my bike is fully loaded and some...:nenau...and it has factory black forks:nenau

Don't you just love this forum........:D
