What the Fu...I have two black nylon bags of knurled bolts in the tank of my '89 GS... either she's been interefered with...some bastard's dropped them in - it is parked on the road - or they were for cleaning out the tank if it was rusty? Anyhow it's tricky getting em out..they're not magnetic and won't be jiggled out the tank cause there's a lip on the filler!

Clueless

I suspect it's a cunning plan to smuggle bolts across International borders...

Are they Radioactive..?

A wee magnet on a piece of string and you have an evenings fishing ahead of you. :thumb2

Bring beer. :beerjug: :)

That's some special magnet that won't stick to a magnetic tank and will stick to non-magnetic bolts.

Are they bolts or could they be pellets? It does sound a bit like the Broquet catalyser bags that were popular about 15 years ago.

OK, I realised it was an airhead after I posted, :augie

But I beat you to the edit :D

What about using long tongs-like bbq ones, you could grind them to the shape required.
could you not take the tank off and turn it upside down and rattle them out??

Ah i see you can't rattle them out.

Alternatively, what about a pearl catcher? I have a 2ft long flexible one that is ideal in this sort of situation.

I came across an industrial boiler a few years ago that had around 20 magnets strapped to the main incoming gas supply. They were supposed to excite the gas molocules and align them to make them burn more efficiently. Must have been a hell of a salesman :D Needless to say the company in question had seen no energy savings at all. The sight of all these gadgets cable tied to the gas pipe made people smile though.

This kind of thing http://www.discoverymagnets.co.uk/ecoflow_fuel.htm

They're exactly it... BBQ briquets - unbelievable...well it's taken about 20 years and two owners for the bag to break down...fuel economy my arse..it does 40mpg! Thanks for solving the mystery.

Not so clueless now!
