Hi All,

I have two laptops that can access each others data and files. I set these up by creating a WorkGroup and then right clicking the C: of each laptop, clicking on Sharing and Security, clicking on "Share this folder on the network" and "allow users to change my files". Then click apply.

The problem I am having is sharing an external hard drive that one of the laptops has attached to it.

I am able to right click the G: and go through the steps above without problem. However when I try and access this from the other computer by mapping to \\JOANDGAZ\G where G is the external HD, I get the following message

\\JOANDGAZ\G is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions............Not enough server storage is available to process this command

NB - The external HD is 300gb.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

I think you have to make G:\ a network drive for it to work.

Open 'my Computer' 'Tools' and 'Map network drive' :)

Have made G the network drive as described in the email below and thats when I get the error after trying to access it.

Have you done the "share this folder" bit for G: drive as well?

Yup, have done the Share G: process and that worked fine. Its just accessing it from the other laptop thats the problem.

I have Norton on the laptop that has the external hard drive and will see what changing the reg settings does.

Cheers
