I took the XC into Williams for an annual service this week and to catch up on half a dozen recalls that needed doing.

1700 miles on the clock and it needed new front pads - for which I blame Timpo for leading me down scary, vertical single track lanes around north Wales where I have been holding onto the brakes for dear life. More skill needed me thinks ....

Also they have replaced the Air Shock under warranty - it developed a nasty sounding squeak after the last hammering ( Timpo's rideout ... ). I'm glad it was done under warranty but a bit concerned that it failed so soon.

Anyone else had problems with their shock on the XC?

Anyway - off to France for a few weeks shortly - trailer it down and then take it out to play ...:clap

Mine squeaked from new but it rarely does it now. It was hard to get it do it when standing still and it was only happening over big bumps.
Paul - was yours worse than that?

Hi Gaz,

It just started squeaking one day - abut halfway through a Timpo ride, so it was being "used' at the time. As soon as it did it never stopped. Just bouncing the bike when stationary or riding. I've always had it pumped up pretty hard - around 110 - 120 psi but that is well within its operating limits.

I'd get yours checked - they didn't argue at all at Williams, they just said its a warranty job. I wouldn't fancy paying for one. Looking at the picture of you on UKGSER I reckon you use your XC the way its meant to be used, same as mine.

Mine squeeked for a while on the HP. But after taking the shock off and cleaning the lower mount, it hasn't done since. :thumb
