I spoke with Nippy Normans today to ask if the Akra can, fitted to Remus headers, would be any better in relation to the supposed lean running condition than the Revolution can I currently have fitted also on Remus headers.
This is because I am concerned about the issue. I suppose that I should just get the bike dyno'd to find out!
Being a jolly decent chap he said the he asked Akra and was told that the back pressures were the same for the two cans i.e. don't buy a new can it's not worth it!
What we chatted about re the 'lean running problem' of the 1200 fitted with a full Remus also confirmed my original thoughts:
If you make an exhaust less restrictive, and that is a function of both simple back pressure AND design, you will get better purging of the exhaust gases and more clean air into the cylinder. With the volumetric efficiency improved you will get improved performance.
It then stands that if you improve the volumetric efficiency and the fuel system cannot redress the balance in terms of fuel/air ratio then it will be the case whatever the name on the exhaust system!
But I know that there are those that say the Akrapovic doesn't cause the problem that the Remus does.
I'm not sure that it's quite that straightforward.
