Although I actually saw it mentioned here for the first time, I think not many people actually saw it.

UK company Intaride are starting to sell their Liberty product, a package consisting of two helmet pods and a central "hub" that communicates between themselves using Bluetooth.

You can use it for intercom, GPS, music, radar and bike-to-bike. Battery life looks to be excellent. Very attractive package !!

That looks really good value and sorts out most of the issues I have with other systems (too many wires etc).

I'm not sure about having a box stuck on the outside of my helmet though. What about impacts & wind turbulence?

Most of the BT integrated helmets have some part sticking out. I ride around with a SportVue HUD on my helmet, which is bigger than this thing, and even at high speed, I have no problem. The HUD is on top of the helmet, while this is on the side, which catches less wind.

Don't think it's an issue...

Talking to intaride today. If you want one you will have to join a big long queue. They have apparently have s$%^&*£+s of advanced orders.
Can't afford one. Still the very nice man told me how to install my autocom speakers into my Caberg :thumb

Got in touch with Intaride, and they're going to be sending me an evaluation unit when ready, for me to test and write a review.

So standby for a full detailed look at the unit.

My wife and I wear Dainese with integrated BlueTooth...no bits sticking out of my helmet, thank you!.The intercom, and phone, are both excellent, not tried music of any kind though.Am I right in thinking that any BT device should link to another,as long as you know the linking codes, and both devices are the same BT protocol/version?

Sorry, not correct..... eg you can't have a Dainese BT helmet talk to a BMW one.

Any idea why,Mike?.I was told,(maybe wrongly),that the helmet/bluetooth patent was held by Vemar. And therefore that the system would be licenced as universal.I know my Dainese is a bit...Old Hat now...(pardon the pun!),and the BMW is brand new,so maybe a newer version of Bluetooth. :nenau

No, there's no license for helmets, so Vemar doesn't hold it. In fact the first kid on the block was Momo Design with Motorola.

I think it has to do with the pairing category they establish. So, this way they protect their own market. But the problem is not only related ot helmets. What started out as an open standard, BT soon become very closed and protective. So you'll often find mobiel phones that have BT that can not pair with earsets (I have one of those case). Dito with helmets and phones, not all phones are accepted and you really need to check the helmet manufacturer's website for compatible phone...

Bl**dy typical...something starts out as a great idea, only lasts until corporate greed rears it's ugly head...thanks for the info anyway.

Lance

Anybody using Intaride Liberty for now? If yes, how it compares to other systems (not BT) like Autocom and Starcom?

I just spoke to Intaride. The reason for the delay is that they found a way to reduce the size of the box that fits on the side of the helmet. This has meant redesigning the battery etc which does take time but they feel it is worthwhile.
Can't wait!!!

Yeah I know, they emailed me a few weeks ago, saying that the demo unit was delayed.
