New baby arrived No 2

Travelled up to Inverness on Friday to view, liked it so i bought it.

It's an R100RS 1983 with 26K on the clock.

I rode it back to South Wales on the Saturday morning (580 miles recorded) and it didn't miss a beat, but I did on the M6 passing a speed camera van at an indicated many miles an hour .

The weather protection is brilliant, I travelled all day with BMW summer gloves on and I started at about 07.45 am from Forres on a rather interesting icy road South to Aviemore.

I can't post pics yet as I've been cut off tinternet by bloody tiscali for no reason, but thats another story. (Rob feel free if you've still got the e-mail).

Lots of little jobs to do so should keep me quiet through the winter.

So, appreciate its not a rufty tufty GS but assuming I'm welcome where would you like me to sit?

The light are the top priority, the tail light appears to be powered off the day-running strip light and not the head-light and it just passed its MOT

Should switch on together.
should on that model be able to switch off also.

It should be on with the headlight as well, except when you are just flashing the headlight.
No day running lights were fitted in '83 AFAIR .
It was in the days of "CHOICE"

Seem to remember that in the Olden Days of Yore parking lights were needed by Law, but even now the latest WMB's have a facility to lock steering with or without parking light.

This was the second one to be sold in UK, bought in its Box in 1977 if my memory serves me. I swapped an R90S and a Honda 400-4 and had cash back from Jeffries, it was a Matt finish (Yuk) but with cutting paste and elbow grease did shine a little. Cost around £3000.
Nice looking machine Paul, only downside I found (I had two over the years) the fairing was so good and the ride position low it really puts all the upper body weight on the arms, with no wind pressure on the upper body, but the miles you did from Haggis Land you must have it sorted (how do get on with the Narrow Bars, after the cow horns on the GS?) With your build you should be ok,

Hi Rob, Narrow bars were ok not really an issue just had to adjust my poor riding style a little.

My elbows were seized by the time I got home but that was due to them being straight for such a long time. Weight on my wrists was ok as there's not much weight to start with.

It was obviously built for us slim athletic types

From what I have read most suggest that the K RS bars solve the problem of too much weight on the wrists.

I have a R100RS but I only ridden it for a few miles as I have a gearbox problem which I need to get sort soon, (hopefully before Xmas), .....it looks like I need to take it out of the Bike and let one of the experts on this forum sort it - detente spring.........springs to mind.

I always felt that my 100S was "heavy" low down compared with say my R90S and others, I have found the RS to be the same, maybe more so because of the influence of the Fairing..........once you are going on the open road this is no problem, but around town it's a different story

One to keep in really good nick and really enjoy on the weekends
