Mapsource can be updated with the latest maps. I did it a week or so ago. <snip>

It can but it's not reliable. I've had multiple Mapsource crashes with recent European and US maps when route planning and others have reported similar issues. I still prefer using Mapsource over Basecamp mind although I think Basecamp is getting there.

Sigh ... having downloaded this only a couple of days ago I'm really missing Mapsource! I'm finding this so bloody un-user friendly.

I really hate it !!

I felt the same as you about six months ago, but once you get used to its foibles, and almost totally forget how mapsource did things then things do improve. Now I don't use mapsource.

I'm ok with basecamp other than lack of postcode search, but reliable download of lifetime maps is the subject of another thread aargh! I'll look on AppStore later

Trixie, Thank you for taking the time to reply. (No really - whilst you are sometimes frustratingly sarcastic and belligerent, on occasions you are also most helpful )

As frustrating as I find it, I will persevere with basecamp. If you don't try and embrace these things you'll just get left behind.

Downloaded 4.2.1 from Appstore for Mac and ready to use the new finf feature... BUT its in a small taskbar on the right eith no option to alter width and it's too narrow to read. I'm beaten at widening it so far
Edit: I can only read the right task pane when in Full screen, that's surely not correct. Post code search works which is a positive

Scuse my ignorance.. but is this for windows only? just had a look and there's no mention of an update for basecamp on mac

If you reinstall Basecamp from App Store on your Mac you will get Version 4.2.1 (4.2.1)
