Battery in the bike is eleven years old :eek: (2004 1150 Adventure) and as it's heading over to Spain it's time for a new one. I'm looking at Motobatt or Odyssey. I can buy the Odyssey at a "discount" from a customer, but have been told that both the 16 ah and the 19 ah battery are suitable. So can I use the 16 a/h one or is it necessary to go for 19a/h ? Thanks.

19 was standard GS OEM, and I think the GSA gel one was 21ah

Definitely get the highest capacity one you can.......The Motobatt is significantly cheaper than the Oddysey, and better IMO, plus it has the clever two pole per side system which can make wiring accessories a lot less of a faff.

For an 1150 GSA (or GS vanilla) the one you want is the MB51814, which is actually 22ah.

They come fully charged and ready to go :thumb2

I don't know how much of a premium you'll pay to get it posted to you Luke, but on eBay you can get new ones from 70 quid :eek:

Thanks guys. Unless the Odyssey is really cheap I'll take the MB from my mechanic. The ebay one is £83 iincluding postage, this is €113 euro and my mechanic is only a few euro more. :thumby:

Nice one Bill, info now bookmarked for future reference.:thumb2

Motobatt seems to be an AGM battery. Absorbed Glas Matt
AGM is much better than a gel battery.
BMW used to have gel batteries some years ago as original but they had many problems with them. Now they have AGM batteries.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Some good info on there - my Odyssey is now 6+yrs old and seems to 'drag' every now and then so it might be MB next time:thumb2

Followed the link and ordered from "Motorcycle Parts Warehouse" expected delivery was Wednesday 6/05/15. Attempted to contact vendor by e-mail, it bounced and their phone number is "not known". !
Anyone successfully ordered from this company, my heckles are up.

Nothing for you to be sorry about Bill.
They appear to have good feedback from a lot of customers. Could be it'll arrive tomorrow :nenau
Ill update this thread when I get it resolved, one way or t`other :green gri
Bike still needs a new battery though :blast

They responded to the e-bay dispute that I raised and offered to refund. Paypal have confirmed that the money has been paid.
