bike didnt start and flattened the battery today,
jumped it and was fine the rest of the day so it seems to be charging ok but I assume the battery is on the way out
seems that an Exide 12-19 gel battery is good enough for the job

before I start into it

does the tank need removed or does the rear lift enough to get the battery out ?

You can do it insitu on the 11 and 12 so I'd guess the 1150 can be done by just slightly raising back of tank as well.

it will be a whole lot easier if you do remove the tank, its pretty simple, just large cumbersome and heavy if much fuel in it!

I managed to get my battery out yesterday, but on reflection wish I'd taken the tank off instead of faffing with it tilted.

if you're fiddling about under the tank, you need to become familiar with these images.

Tank off every time, even if it hasn't got quick connectors just clamp the pipes, 5mins

thanks for the advice

tank is now off, 5mins is about right now I know its only held on with one bolt, unclip 2 fuel pipes and one electrical connector

lucky the fuel light was on, hate to see it full

never heard of the battery that was in her, although I notice it is 22 ah

going to fit a Exide gel 12-19 seems to fit the job unless someone tells me different (bike is garaged and always on a ctec charger)

Take the opportunity to take the tank off and separate all the electrical connector blocks, clean and apply dialectric grease.

As above, or at least unplug and coat with AC-50 because it's guaranteed that some of the contacts will be green by now.

Don't leave it permanently attached to a smart charger as that can mask problems, instead just switch it on for a few hours now and again ( to simulate the bike being used for differing length of runs ) so that you'll get a better idea of the battery state :thumb
