FINALLY GOT ROUND TO BUYING F650GS (2001), DELIGHTED! CRUISE AT 90 AND RETURN 65MPG....AMAZED!

LOOKING FOR SOME HELP WITH A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS; 18000M SERVICE COMING UP - HOW MUCH SHOULD I PAY? (GLASGOW NEAREST DEALER), AND SECONDLY, HOW MUCH SHOULD I BE PAYING FOR A REAR TOURANCE?

:beerjug: CHEERS IN ADVANCE

Hello Gary and welcome :beerjug:

Try not typing in capitals, it's seen as SHOUTING. and have a little patience - there are a lot fewer 650 riders on here than bigger bikes and they will mostly be at work during the daytime :nenau

No idea about the service but there are loads of threads about tyres. Try using the 'Search' facility on Tourances :thumb

I had a Tourance and new tube fitted in Perth in 2004 to a wheel removed from the bike by me for £73 - not at a BMW dealer though (used Perth Motorcycles).

It lasted 10000 miles which makes me think the compound is too hard for my style of riding - I have the bruises to prove it. It`s a false economy to use long lasting tyres if you have to spend lots of dosh on crash repairs!!!!

As for servicing, I found the dealer`s charges high and prefer to do the servicing myself - it`s easy for a home mechanic.

I have just bought my first bike a 650GS, its a 2002 and so out of warrenty, so i plan to do the servicing myself as john uytman said cheaper. Hubby has a 1200GS he is planning on having it serviced at BMW until it is out of warrenty (just so warrenty maintained) Never serviced a bke before but have always done my own car. So bring on the service manual and off i go (i hope lol lol hubby will be indoors if i need extra hands lol)
