Hi there
Just joined UKGSER
I've started back on two wheels this year and have been spending the last few months getting to grips with my 1200Adveture. Done 3500miles so far and totally love it :) Just wish I had longer legs!!
Took a trip through Southern Norway, Sweden and Denmark last month (Wow Norway is amazing) and planning to head to Ireland at the end July
Has anyone any tips for the trip?
Also booked with World of BMW on the Sep Portugal trail riding trip, anyone else going?
I have only ridden off road for a few days (BMW's & smaller KTMs) and hav done some training with BMW in Wales and will be doing some more training again at the end of Aug. I currently have road tyres fitted but also have a set of nobblies, which I plan to swap for the trip to Portugal. Not sure though how they'll fair on the road, can anyone tell me?
Is there a good all round tyre for the GSA?
Also does anyone know any good trails or roads around Warwickshire and the Cotswolds?

Hi Tim and welcome to the site.

Not sure how many trails are up your way but there a quite a few in the Cotswolds so keep a look out on here for when we ride them.

I run Continental Battle Wings on my GS-A and they are a fantastic tyre on the road. Really stable and just feel right. I`ve also run TKC`s on the road and found them to be an excellent tyre with a good degree of grip. You get a slight weave at about 90 but bar that, they are pretty good. They work really well on gravel and rocks but not too good on the mud IMHO.

We have West Mids meets every 2nd Tuesday in a month, 1st Tuesday of August we`ll be at the Broom Tavern nr Bidford so you`d be more than welscome to roll up and ljoin in with us lot talking bollox which we are pretty good at:thumb

You might also like to pay your £12 yearly subs to the site and you`ll get the benefit of the private message facility and the for sale and wanted section.

Definitely TKC's

Ignore what Bilco says about the weave at 90 :ymca

TKC's are the best compromise tyre with an off road bias, probably Battlewings if you want a road bias :thumb2

Thanks for the warm welcome, so is the next West Mids meet is Tue 5th Aug?

So sounds like I might need to try the TKC's for my next trip
Where is the best place to buy new or get spare tires fitted?

Cheers :thumb2

Glad that tyre worked for you Louis :thumb2

Tim - I live just North of Cheltenham where we do have a few trails that are pretty accesible and legal. If you find yourself with a spare couple hours, I'd be happy to give you the tour. :thumb2

Mav has a very good run of lanes with beautiful countryside and a great range of pubs (& a great chap to go riding with)

Careful what they tell you Tim because this is what your GS will look like after a day on the trail with Mav and Louis:thumb If Louis ever says "it`s an easy track and I`ve only done one enduro" turn around and go straight home:augie

Well, it`s what it looked like after we hauled it out of the ditch:blast

Shocking!! I can't believe you would lump me in with Louis, I'm no where near as bad as he is :D Besides, I did help get the bike off when you were lying underneath it in that ditch! Damn silly place to lie if you ask me :blast :D

The photos are great, looks like a cold but rewarding weekend in Wales

Soon as I swap my tires to TKC's I'll be up for a bit of dirt!!:thumb

Would be great to shown a few local trails around your neck of the woods so hopefully we'll meet next month at the WestMids social (is it Tue 5th Aug?) and can arrange something?

Cheers
Tim
