New clutch noise explanation in this bike for sale ad, is it correct?

Yes, it could be.
Whoever has fitted the clutch may have warned the owner that the splines on the input shaft are very worn. Hence the sale.

And the "misfire when cold but Ok when warm just needs the throttle cables adjusting" isn't likely to be cured by simply adjusting the throttle cables :D
