Nippy the Normster sent me over a pair of PivotPegz to try on my 1200.
These are different to the stock pegs as they have a larger "surface area" (but no wider than standard) and pivot front and back, as well as upwards. Like this, see:
Fitting to the 1200 was a piece of cake. Took about 3 minutes.
Firstly, they look like this. Substantial very well made pieces of kit, very nicely finished. The elastic band is there to hold the springy thing in during transit by the way.
To fit, simply pop off the circlip on the underside of the pin going through the existing footpeg mount. The pin then slides upwards & out. I had to remove the gear lever to get the left pin out (note the position of the lever on the spline & mark with a pencil if you are feeling professional). You can see the lever/pin interface here, with the circlip shown to pique your excitement further. The existing peg then comes off in a jiffy.
The PivotPeg is then installed - just put it in where the stock peg was, reinsert the pin and refit the circlip.
Got to say that they do look rather smart. The finish is very nice.
Along with many other 1200 owners, I removed the rubber inserts of my stock pegs as they are well slippery when wet or mud covered. The PivotPegs feel more secure than the de-rubbered stock pegs as they give more for your boot to bite onto, and the forward/backward pivoting, whilst a little unusual at first, is actually really useful. On green-laning stuff it feels more secure when standing on the pegs, and you dont lose anything when you're sitting down. On the road, they adjust to your foot position.
Quite cool in my opinion. Makes the bike look a bit more "off road". No idea of price yet, but contact Nippy for more info at [email protected]
