Hi guys,
need a bit of advice,
just bougt a very nice drz400, never been used on road and am in process of getting an age related plate for her. Need road going items as lights etc, now she runs OK, but really down on power compared to my girls 400 same model year same gearing (ie; sprockets). She has been laid up for a couple of years, but feels lifeless has a couple of modds made exhaust resirc removed,
& air box opened up. Standard exhaust but just does not pull like my lasses machine. Any hints/tips appreciated, also any road going gear going spare I'd be interested.

Take the carb off and fit new pilot and main jet.
The holes on the jets will be furred-up, especially the pilot jet. And because the pilot jet hole is so small, it may only take the smallest of deposite to weaken the mix to prevent correct running.
If you pull the choke out a little, does the performance improve?

Spot on Timpo,
do you know what the standard size is? And a good supplier?
thanks,
Paddy

The 'S' has a Mikuni carb on it oem.
Take the jets out and match them up on this website. Their delivery is excellent.
It is the easiest way to go, as the furring has made the jet bore smaller so leaner, and cleaning the jets with a probe may damage the bore, so making the mixture richer, and the jets are only a couple of quid and you know they are pucker again once fitted.
