Hi,

I would like to fit a new exhaust system to my 100 GS. Have asked around and since I would like to go for something different than standard was told a Laser can would be the appriopriate item to purchase.

Do I need to drop the collector box and change my pipes to a Y system for fast efficient fitting or would the best be to slip the Laser on and leave the rest as standard?

Has anyone done this recently, if so where would I find such a item at a reasonble price?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated! :D

Thanks
Maverick

I have a produro silencer on my '89 R100GS. Its matched to the standard (rotting) collector box.
Sounds good, but as on when purchased can't comment on improvement over standard or not.
Anyone got same with a Y piece instad of collector ? I'm needing one and want to know what will fit on (as the collector is on mine I assume a replacement y-piece will also fit straight on.)
Produro website is http://www.laser-jama.nl/uk/Main.html pipe seems better sound (but not loud at all) and is stainless so last for ever.
As an aside I was wondering of going low mounted twin silencers for big alu boxes close in each side - big trip travel prep. Someone else has asked for the pipe if I do ! I'll live with the lack of clearance - but does it effect rear wheel removal significantly ? Any info ? (paralever model) ;) Fritz

I have the PRO-DURO with a "y" piece. It fits OK except the diameters where they join are slightly wrong. It's too tight for the std. gasket & too loose for no gasket! My solution was to cut a strip of thin aluminium beer can to act as a gasket & with a bit of jointing Gun Gum it is fine.
Nice throaty noise when the taps are openned up but still quiet enough to trail ride gently and sneak up to 10yds behind the ramblers.
The quality of the Lazer is first rate IMHO. Go for it.
