New headers

Every now and again you are impressed with everything about something you buy. Not often, but when you do I think it's worth a bit of congratulation to the supplier.

Took delivery of a new set of Keihan headers today. I only ordered them yesterday. Emailed Mark in the morning, he had what I needed in stock, 2012 GSA decay headers, extended to by pass the flappy valve. Went through to the lovely Beryl to pay, they shipped same day and Parcelforce delivered at 1000 this morning. Don't get that sort of service from many companies.

After work today I though I would nip out and have a fiddle. Ended up removing the flappy valve and thought sod it, I'll finish the job. An hour and a half start to finish. Everything fitted perfectly first time, married up to the std exhaust and all the bolts went back in without putting up a struggle.

Fired her up and it worked. Definitely a bit more burbly at low revs. Be interesting to see if I can feel any difference when we go out to play at the weekend.

Very impressed so far, well done Mark.

Good gear, you wont be disappointed, had mine on for about 10k now and they are great, they will discolour but I don't mind it, and for the price cracking bit of real British engineering. Being a Yorkshire lad being cheeper than the other lot also makes me happy

I fitted a set 3 months ago and instantly wished I'd done it as soon as I bought the bike. Headers + hilltop = new bike. You could pay this much and only get a fancy end can that adds nothing to the performance.

I do wonder why they bother with the link pipe. Remus do ok without.
On twin silencer bikes, the link pipe allows the gas pulse down one side to create a suction down the other. But the GS pipes join together only a little further down so it's hard to see how it helps.

They look great and will be doing the same with my GSA TC. On the discolouration, if you don't like it, it is very easy to get even the most discoloured pipes back to a lovely shines look. I use Optiglanz spray, put it on the pipes, wait 3 minutes, wash off and a quick polish and back to new. You can get it on Amazon. Be careful with it on you skin....it is powerful stuff.

Booked into Hilltop on 19th September. Conclusion I came to was decat headers, loose the flappy valve thing and Hilltop it. Leaving end can std, although I might need to deploy the earplugs now!

Next mission is to work out what to do about tyres. I think it's going to be Conti TCK70's in the not too distant....

Cillit Bang also works but be careful on paint with any acid cleaner. TBH I feel the risks of paint damage outweigh the shiny pipes look.

Fair point. I have been using Optiglanz now for years....no problems on paint or other finishes...but I am careful where the stuff goes.
