Hello My fellow ruff riders.

I just bought me a GS to sit along side my R1. I am not much of a tourer but after watching that guy out of Star Wars and the scruffy bloke do there thing, I kinda have the urge to go do some touring myself.

I have only been outside the M25 twice since owning my R1, it's an 08 model, I only had it for a few months, as you see, I am kinda new to biking, so to do some big distance riding will be fun if not a little scary for me!!!

I was thinking as a start and warm up to a big trip, was going to head up the M1, is there anyware nice up that way that you guys suggest I should visit?

Also, I am really concerned about what Oil I should put in my GS as doing such long distances, as in my first trip, I want the best oil to avoid any damage to the engine. I only put Motul fully Synthetic in my R1, and when I dynoed it, I got nearly 5bhp extra!! Do you think this is a good oil to put in my GS?

Anyway guys, thanks in advance.

I look forward to being a member here, and to make contributions of my own:D

I've stuck to Castrol 20/50 mineral oil, as manuf. recomended. (It is a tractor engine after all!:augie)

Its done alright for 47K so far:thumb2

keep an eye on the level as they do tend to burn abit (1/2 to 1Ltr per 1kmiles) especially at lower milages.

Have a search in the Tech sections, I expect there will be a whole load of (poss. conflicting) sagely advice:rob

:D

You could try the peak district some stunning views and roads not to far up the M1 :):)

There's loads of places North of the M25...

NW is Wales...just get out of town and anywhere is lovely

NE is anglia etc...Not really been there, but I hear it's nice

N is peaks

further N is cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire

Even Further N is Cumbria, Cumberland and even Scotland...

You'd be surprised what a large and lovely land we have here...After returning from 10 years in California, I have been treated to many awesome areas in my own country...you just have to get on your bike and ride :thumb

Oh...BTW...Welcome

Hi & welcome :thumb
Anywhere north has just got to be better then within the M25 surely :D
Just get on & ride.

South Mimms. Lovely food, nice shortbread and a tyre inflator that gives you two more BHP.
