New here. Ordering question.

Thanks for the responses.

I'll probably order engine bars and cruise control (there seems to be a lot of love for that). I'm less convinced about heated grips. I have them on my KTM and they'll happily bake my palms while refusing to warm my finger tips. I might try heated gloves...

Rupert - not sure what the KTM heated grips are like, but I've been more than impressed with them on BMWs. I had an F800GS before my 1200WC, and both are most impressive. They certainly do help in cold weather and can transform the riding experience - especially when you've got a lot of miles left to get home and the sleet is getting thicker....

But if you're not using it that much in winter and have decent enough gloves, it may be an unnecessary expense.

Good luck with your new purchase!

Just out of interest - how many folks have ordered the LC without the ESA suspension?

My last 2 BM's (GSA and GS/TB) I have ordered without and put the money saved towards fitting Wilbers straight away.

Still not keen on the complexity of ESA but wondered if the standard suspension on the LC had improved over the old Hexhead at all.

Not seen any demo's for non - ESA bikes and in any event cannot ride/drive at the moment due to recovering from spinal surgery.

Cheers

I think ESA suits the I've eaten all the pies type of build, because I'm 13 stone wet and i find all the settings a bit harsh and often leave it in soft.

RDC tyre pressure monitoring

Id recommend rdc, the extra confidence it gives, especially after a puncture is worth every penny IMHO
It's wise to check tyres, fluids etc before a ride but do we all re check after every fuel or coffee stop?
I picked up a split pin in the rear tyre & only knew due to the low pressure warning on start up. Was able to ride to nearest garage for a top up & onto a dealer for a replacement tyre.
Ok you don't get punctures every day, think I'm on my third in 7 years & have witnessed 2 mates getting them also.
Glad I've got it though.

The bmw heated grips are okay on the coolest setting....just right. The hottest setting is a bit too hot, but then I tested them in summer :)

I'd also get the hand guards fitted to keep the wind chill off

If I'm honest I'd probably go for a non ESA bike if I had the choice again

Just had a test ride and after asking the lovely Charlotte at Park Lane lots of questions I've ordered the TE.

Now then, what's a nice sounding can...?

(And a bonus is you can remove the wheel without having to strip the bike down like i have to now with the akro)

Interesting. I have a few questions (assuming you haven't sold it already):

Why did you replace it with the akra?
Is it made specifically for the 2013 GS?
What metal is it made out of?
How much does it weigh?

Oh, and do you know if I can fit it straight away, or will I have to wait until the bike's first service (I had to on my KTM)?

Thanks.
