Hi Chap's & Chapesse's,

just seen the new hugger from Wunderlich and was totally underwelmed by it!

So for a start it cost's £181!

Secondly it's made so thin that you can see through the carbon weave!

Lastly it's so short in design that it leaves the suspension area open to debris.

Total crap I reckon.

Sometimes I wonder if any of these designers actually use the parts that they make or do they just make them look good but remain totally useless?

I'm just hoping that NWS's version will be far better.

Only time will tell. has anyone seen the NWS version yet or know when the first deliveries are due?

I don't think the Wunderlich hugger is THAT new. I believe it's the one made by Llmberger, just as their engine bars are made by H&B.

It's obviously not and easy thing to do. Make a hugger for a R1200GS that is.

The bike is screamin' out for a decent one and the market is not really coming up with the goods.

It would be interesting to know some of the finer detail behind Motorrad Concepts product and its subsequent withdrawl.

Mounting such a relatively large structure on a single point may be an issue here I suspect.

I'm hopeful about the N-W-S hugger. If that don't do the business then maybe Motorrad Concepts will come up with the goods in due course.

Hi Wraithrider,

the Wunderlich hugger is brand new and is the strengthened version of the original model which was withdrawn from sale to to a weakness in the mounting area.

My hopes are that;

a) NWS come up trumps

or

b) Motorrad concepts find a new partner thar can follow original specs and not make the unit out of incorrect spec materials.

Reggie's quite correct......

.......there's nothing wrong with our design, just the way it was manufactured by our erstwhile manufacturer.

We've now identified a new manufacturer and are on course to resume supplies from March, as previously advised to all our customers.

We'll be posting pix on our website just as soon as the first production arrives with us......

We had a good look at the Wunderlich offering and others at Intermot last September and although our design was more or less finalised, we were certainly influenced by some details to convince us that our design needed a couple of refinements.

Our product has been designed & tested by 1200GS riders for 1200GS riders, and once I'm satisfied enough to bolt it on my own bike, then we'll offer them for sale.

Cheers

Hi Dutch,

Thanks for the update Dutch.

Do I hang on or do I go for the NWS? As you say the MC design is now a mature one. The problems that NWS may have haven't yet surfaced and won't for a while.

And March isn't THAT far away.

And from experience your service is par excellance.

Our information is that the NWS offering is iminent, so everyone (including us!) will be able to see what it's like by the time we're in a position to satisfy new orders.

Cheers

Nice try.......... ;)

Why would I need another tester, when I've had these fekkin' things on my bikes(s) since last summer.........

I'll post pix just as soon as I can.....

Hi Dutch.

Any idea about the prices for the mk11 version yet??

I had one of the old huggers and was well pleased with the design but disappointed with the quality.

For a unit that was around the £200 mark I would have thought more quality control would have been carried out.

Regards.

Prices will be published at the same time that we place them on sale again.

We will not be taking further orders until out current large backlog of orders are fulfilled.

Your comments re: Quality Control are noted.

Cheers

Hi Dutch,

Quality Control is definitively important, I agree!!!!
But I am still waiting news for my pending order fully paid latest August 2004...!
Answer to mails sent via the MotorradConcepts web site is also a quality matter for your company!

Thanks to take care, coming back to me!

I hope someone is going to make one in plain, simple, tough, preferably matt black plastic rather than poxy carbon fibre.

Guys....no surprise that its taking so long to get the hugger design right....too rigid it'll stress the mudguard part of the hugger and too flexi and you risk stress cracking in the support.

Looking at the design of the Wunderlich hugger I'm not surprised they had to strenthen the supporting structure make the guard lighter. The Motorrad Concepts one looked so rigid (and asthetically good!) that I guess the stresses would all be passed to the carbon fibre. Interested to see mark 2.

With liability being what it is today, I wouldn't be wanting to take any chances with selling these puppies till I was Quite sure they wouldn' t fail...just one US lawsuit...

Now where can I find a hugger.....

Cool Dutchman, one of my French friends, stuck with the first faulty version of your hugger for a few months now, is going to be very happy to get some news from you guys, and hopefully the promised replacement unit !
