Found this site and thought some people here might be interested. Its only starting up and they seem keen on starting an Irish bike touring forum.

Mods. I have no connection with the site other then being a member since yesterday. Hope its ok to post but I thought it would be of interest. And Ukgser is linked on it as an example of a great bike touring site.:toungincheek

I don't like sites you have to sign up before you can see anything at all.

Have to admit I don’t like that myself.

Its not even clear from the front page that its an Irish bike site.

But they are just starting up and seem to be keen to hear what people want. Apart from IBF there isn’t really a good Irish bike site on the net (IMO).

Is it aimed at touring ? It does have a diluting effect on other forums, but I suppose like GS forums the weak will die off eventually.

I understand this issue but the site is on a secure server and that option of viewing the site is not available yet. I will correct this issue in time. Due to spamming reasons i had to revert back to admin approval for new registrations but its a quick process.

Still very off putting.. i wouldn't sign up unless i knew for a fact there was something worth going on the site for.. and even then i would sign up with a different username and a disposable email address because of the inability to see what I'm joining first.

I'm with Tuned on this; I need to look in the shop window to decide if it's worth going into the store - like I did with this site many moons ago

Just to let yis know the touring forum has been set up on the site! Apologies if this seems out of order to the mods on here-However i found this site thru Global(very well laid out!) and I'll put a link to here as a gs resource and general good touring site in our links/contacts section!
At Tuned-yep it's a good point, myself and admin have differing opinions on it however theres alot of 17 year old types from a big bike forum that were havin a good go at messing with the site so Admin had to tighten things up! I believe the forum will be visible to Guests very soon!:thumb:aidan:oonyack class smilies!!:D

New improved forum.

I have corrected the issue with the site and now i have made the forum a vbulletin site and it is no longer on a secure server and the content is exposed to the masses! Of course there is alot not visible as there has to be something that only the members can see as that makes it fair to everyone concerned! The forum is now running on vbulletin 4.0 and alot better than its old days of phpbb. All new registrations are still on a moderation queue as the spammer is now a problem so i had no choice there! Have a look at the forum now and judge for yourselfs!
