New Karoo's

Just changed from Anakees to Karoos so thought I would go out and take the shine off them this afternoon... *kin ell!! Had to stop after a mile to check they were on the right way round and all of the bolts were tight.

They're certainly interesting on the road. As you go to tip it in it almost feels like the bike is counter steering on it's own, before it drops onto the next block over. As an added bonus it rained half an hour from home which made me even more nervous on them.

On the plus side they're so noisy I can't hear an annoying vibration noise at 2500 revs any more.

Should be more than up to the job in Wales next weekend but is certainly going to take some adjusting to on the road.

No need to pull the clutch in. At 70 you can barely hear the exhausts.

I fitted the same tyres no problems found but then I have ridden a lot on MT21s. I did about 1000 kilometres on them last weekend and I was very impressed by the grip on and off road, wet or dry and it was very very wet at times. Just relax and enjoy the ride.....

Ive had 3 sets on my GS now and have them on the HP2 until this lot are shagged.

I don't know what the Karoos are like on the 650, but Pirelli MT21's work well (although compared to anakees they'll probably give you a similar feeling to the karoos).

TKC is the best 50/50 tyre of them all for feel IMHO (although I run MT21's as they are better off road which suits me

Bit more confident with them this morning. Recommended pressures are 2.1 front and 2.3 rear but I will try them a bit lower tomorrow and see how it feels.

About the same for the MT21's and TKC's but I'd never run them at that personally

Anywho, I had a look at the Karoo's but I went with a majority and bought the TKCs, as I couldn't find any reviews that went into detail.

What are they like in the twisties, I've found that my rear TKC squirms a bit when leaning as ~30+ but that might because its at 22psi.

They feel quite stable TBH. Was definately running them with too high pressures to start with, now at 26/28 on the road and they're quite predictable. The front does get a bit of a weave on when there's a change in road surface at speed (white lines/cats eyes especially). Only had one day on them off road so far and they're really confidence inspiring, especially on gravel.

You're always gonna get a bit of squirm as you drop the pressures, that's why you have the problem. Obviously it depends what is most important to ya, off road or on. On road pressure I'd got for 28PSI in TKC's. Off road you are on the button

That's the trade off. The squirm is nothing to be worried about though, just nail it until it lets go
