£7995 inc UK road tax, KTM panniers and mountings, crash bars and a free tankbag (with KTM written on it, I suppose). Albion in Exeter.
A good deal for potential new gsers or should we wait for the KTM 990 Adv, fuel injection, due in Feb 2006? 120 bhp, apparently.

Get the one you like. :)

Altough i really don't like the revving prone engine of 950, and if it's true the quoted 120bhp per additional circa 50cc (+20bhp for 50cc then) will make the new 990 even more revving-high-end prone. I though they gave additional 50cc to leave bhp the same but to give more torque and power curve more flat coz current KTM twin has quite poor low grunt power the adventure type of bike really needs. Well then, it'll be more crap engine for any serious ADV bike that doesn't pull on low rpms but want's to do a comfty long distances on various type of roads or RTW. Though, sure 990ADV will be good "adrenaline machine" for young guys who don't mind changing gears every few seconds all day long to keep it in redline and feel the high-end power :D. But what's the point having twin then? Then it's better idea to get inline-4 GSX-R with 180bhp@10 000+rpm per 1000cc :D

But it also reminds me the commercials aside the roads in UK with bike logos "To die for..."

Ride safe, Margus :thumb

Fair point Margus. Funnily enough I’ve been down to the Triumph dealer and like the look of the Sprint ST. It does look very nice in the flesh and has a pretty good reputation as a big motorway mile eater and comfortable as a sports tourer.
What are the main roads like up thru Kaunus, Riga and across to Tartu? Surely they’re not going to cause any problems for the ST? Quite like also to check out Lake Peipsi.
Re the new KTM, I can’t wait till Feb. I wanna buy something very soon and fettle it up for a practice 1500 mile foray into Spain and back.
Nice weather you’re having at the moment, it appears.

Main roads from Kaunas to Tartu are good enough for GSXR too. :)

But Estonia is ideal big trailie country like GS. To discover Peipsi you can do with ST too on some parts, but much more fun in nature with GS on gravel and pistes!

Get the proper R1100GS man! Costs half of a 950/950ADV, has bags of torque on low, put Öhlins under it and it is circa 3X more reliable and cheaper to maintain, considerably comfortable way to eat miles all the way up here ;)

KTM 990 Adv

Sounds good i've heard it's got ABS

unfortunately there are no decent dealers within a hundred miles
of me

Why don't you try the Triumph Tiger. I'm really pleased with mine. 33500 miles with no problems at all. Cheaper than both the KTM and the GS12. Just as good on gravel roads/tracks. Comfortable, economical and good value for money. IMHO.

The KTM 950 has bags of torque.....for example it wheelies from 2kRPM in first and 3k RPM in second........both off the throttle.(i know cos mine does it)

Do you not rate Crossways the CW (BMW dealers in Dorset) offshoot, I thought Ian was a decent bloke to deal with when he was in CW and can't imagine him changing too much. I've visited the KTM dealership a couple of times and they allways seem friendly and approachable.

Listen to me, listen to me! Please buy a tiger and prove me right, pleeeeese :D
(But if you buy one and it's cr.p don't tell 'em, pleeeeese don't tell 'em)

Handy the things for cleaning up the crisp packets as you go along, I wonder if there is a "green" subsidy for this, maybe cheaper fuel....
