I know a lot of you folks in here are involved with the law or motor vehicles in more than one way and may have already had a one on one of the question

The question I have The new MOT "Law" requires us to display an valid MOT disc (in the style of a tax disc for visitors)

What Law is this written into and what is the paragragh and sub paragraph?

Basically I believe the government here is taking the piss and tellin us that we have to do it when the "Instrument" is not in place yet!
Don't get me wrong I agree in principle but on a bike it's alraeady a bollix to find and mount and keep a tax disc dry whilst managing a style of cosmetic decorum :aidan

My Reason :- Normally when they advertise legislation somewhere it will advertise the details My friends and I have been unable to trace the relevant law??

Anyone any comments

An MoT disc? I've never heard of it. You don't mean that small blue sticker to stick to the windscreen reminding you of when the next year's MoT test is due?

don't the dvla or whoever have hand held scanners with which they can run the registration number through and ascertain whether the bike's mot'd or not, which makes displaying the mot disc redundant?

I think they only use them for road tax detection

11. Who Needs to display the MOT disc

Only vehicles tested in Northern Ireland under the motor vehicle testing regulations are required to display the disc provided when they pass their MOT.

Vehicles tested in Great Britain are not required to display a disc

??????

NI Law normally works on issuing statutory instruments ammendments under the Road Traffic NI order for year XXXX, and with legislation also laid before the NI Assembley -(When they sit):handbag

(As an aside :topic the new motorcyle off road assessment is currently delayed due to the Enviornmental committe of the Assembley having objections / requireing clarification of a few issues).:augie
