New screen dilemma

Decided I need a bigger screen than the standard 1150GS item. Quite fancy the Adventure screen, but is it worth the effort? Notice MotoBins do a larger Secdem version. Any experience out there? With or without Tobinators?
Difficult to find good pictures of any of them!

I'm 6ft 4ins, so my head is probably so far out of the boundary layer from the standard screen that I dont get any buffeting with it in its mid position. (Unless its a windy day) All day cruise at 95+ to Spain last year, in open face helmet and I still have all my fillings. I just feel that its quite small- and that a little more weather protection, without going over the top, would be nice. Either that or I need to buy an RT? Dave

There's a sticky over on AdvRider G-Spot on screens. It probably answers most of your questions.

I tried standard Adv screen without Tobers brilliant kit, with Tobinators and finally settled for a Ceebailey Adv screen still with Tobinators. That combo works for me but everyone is so different in what they want and what they will tolerate it's nigh-on impossible to just advise. I think you need to try different combos.

Mike.

I'd only fit Tobinators if you're trying to eliminate buffeting. If you don't suffer from it (or it doesn't worry you) I'd just buy a screen on size. Of course, the altered aerodynamics may then make buffeting a problem.

By your description (no buffet, open face helmet etc etc), I'd think you're not going to get it a lot better, frankly...

If only I knew what the hell this means, I would be there like a shot. Translation please?

Buffeting has never been an issue, its more to do with the water feature that is Lancashire which prompts this enquiry!

Click here - ADVRider is an Adventure Bike site based in the USA. It has about 10 times the membership of UKGSer and can be an interesting place to visit...

Thanks Mike O, managed to find the site and the FAQ thesis. Pretty good stuff. I'll let you know what happens next!

Sorry! (I've obviously been using this forum too long. I'm starting to use the same jargon that confused me when I first came here. It's catching!).

The obvious question is what did you do with the Adventure screen etc which you no longer have a use for?

Yours hopefully, Dave

Dave,

Sorry. I flogged it to defray the (high) cost of the Ceebailey replacement.

Mike.

Dear Gothbiker,
I would be delighted to have a do at anything bigger than the standard item, just to feel the difference. I'm not familiar with the ermax - I'll do the internet search.

If you suggest a place to meet, convenient to you after Monday, and some convenient time (evening), I'll be there,

Dave

Gothbiker,
just found the ermax under the wunderlich website. Just the sort of thing I had in mind. Look forward to hearing from you,

Dave
