Got an email from Sena this morning announcing the new SMH10R. Most noticeable difference is its the knob on the side has gone (not me btw), its now super slim but the battery is now an external item that needs to be fitted somewhere in the helmet lining.

from the email...
"The SMH10R Bluetooth headset/intercom system from Sena is sold in individual units and retails for $219 in North America and 219€(incl. VAT) in Europe"

Looks good and much slimmer than the original.

The size has been one of the factors putting me off from changing my Autocom to something like this in the past. This might just be what I have been looking for.

From your experience are they/do you think they would be loud enough to use through foam earplugs?

Interesting ...

... because although I'm not a Sena user I'm looking for a new helmet, and there are a number on sale with 'old' style Sena cutouts; I cant think they're going to be best pleased at a totally new shape unit :blast

behind RT screen, earplugs in, full volume, its fine both intercom and music (provided your MP3's are encoded at full volume) - Audio books, hopeless.

Do not like the battery box on the back myself so will stick very happily with my SMH10 and knob!

Shark were there first with the Sharktooth Bluetooth - this looks to be a copy of that. The difference is that Shark have made a cut out in their compatible helmets for the battery so no need to stick it to the outside.

If this works as well as the Shark kit, it should be good.
