New T7 Yamaha Ténéré 700 Extreme

I keep looking at teneres and keep thinking they make an awful lot of sense. Watching Pol Tarres on his (aside from the fact he is a world class hard Enduro rider) it shows what the bike is capable of.

The main criticism of the T7 has been the suspension, so this looks like a really well judged variant on the std model, without the weight of the world raid version.

It's pretty tall too at 910mm.

Well, only if you're short of course...

you have to realise its the rider not the bike , he could no doubt do the same on most of the other twin cylinder bikes or probably better on some . not that its not a good bike

Really.... wow. I had no idea.😆

Some have said it's too top heavy as well, but I can't say that is something I agree with.
It obviously depends on what your comparing it to and yes it's a PT and yes the fuel tank sits above the engine so technically that might be true to a point.
A lot of my TRF group have opted for tenere's, for a green lane adv bike this version makes a lot of sense if it has decent off-road orientated suspension.

What was eye opening to me was how little difference the 80-90+ kilos of mass made compared to to a typical 2 stroke Enduro it made me wonder how difficult does the terrain have to get before the laws of physics simply say no it's not happening that bike is just too heavy to do that.

Having watched Pol Tarres on the WESS on a 2stroke it was a good comparison. It's all well and good seeing little clips of big adv bikes doing crazy stuff but to enter a timed main stream event on one and smash it, that's something else.

So my point was it has to be pretty damn insane before the bikes limitations are the true limit. Same is true with Toni Bou and the crazy stuff he does with an AT. It was heartening to me to see just how far these bikes can be pushed which is a hell of a lot further than most give them credit for to avoid contending with their own inadequacies. I hear time and time again newbie green laners wanting to get this or that, investing in their own abilities seems to never be part of the conversation.

I've heard a very many times people say the 12GSA is too heavy to use off-road I disagree. Are we ever likely to see one on the prologue at Romainiac's probably not, that's may be a step too far for it to be competitive.I 've seen HP2's enter Erzberg though but I don't think they made it past the prologue.....

World class riders will have world class bike prep.
