New TomTom ?

Re New T T fine tuning, I just got back from Normandy and using my new TT there. It was directing me up very narrow lanes, not always paved, thinking this can't be right even on the fastest route setting.
Found that within planning preferences, it was set to bottom scale on 'minor' roads. Now moved to 'major' roads, at least it should keep me on paved roads , I hope............

I am down in Italy at the mo and got here with the help of my mates new Garmin

Some really good features but why the fuc# does it give direction by road name and not road number

Garmin....Turn left on to "AlbertWeismannGrosselbackerunterstrassersud"

Tom Tom.......... " turn left on B500"

I will defo stick to my Urban rider 2

Just purchased the new tomtom v5 direct from tomtom. What a surprise I got....straight away the rep offered me a 20% discount, price I paid was 270GBP. I have the touratech locking mount for my old v2 so the active dock was an easy change but no need to change the cable. The unit itself is easy to use and the bigger display is nice. first use was on a route from Rossendale down to Carmarthen Bay using twisty route. took me on some amazing roads which some can only be described as green laning. Loved every minute, route was approx 8hrs with the normal fast route being 4ish hrs. Can't wait to get it into the Austrian alps:beerjug:

Mark

If I have read this correctly you simply called Tom Tom and they offered you 20% discount on the latest model? Which number did you call please? That is a very good price.

Sorry about the delay guys, I work overseas....I rang customer support at TomTom on 08451610009. The call was initially about a comparability issue, I wanted to know if the active dock wad ergonomically the same size as the old one so I didn't have to replace my touratech locking mount for it. When the guy told me everything was the same apart from the new one having extra connectors on the front I mentioned that I would buy one. He then said he could do this for me over the phone. Deal done.....I will add that a couple of guys off the forum have tried the same thing, I even forwarded my invoice from TomTom do they had ammunition to say the deal is possible. I think they were successful, but......anyone wanting the same deal, I have been informed, has to be a current user of tomtom. If you are you get 20% off, if you aren't a user you get 10% off.....good luck

But when they ask you if you are a current user and you say 'Yes!' They'll ask you which model you have.
Er... Uhhh... "I have the original Rider".
What's gone wrong with it?
"Nothing - but I've bought a second bike and I want to tour to Eastern Europe and I see the new Rider has all that in the unit!"

= 20%
