The step up ...

It also leaves that big gap over the rear wheel which is not a great look imo. Small point maynr but easily aoidable at the design stage.

I'd be interested to know how shorter riders cope!

Unfortunately it seems to be the style currently, even for road bikes with only 4" of suspension. https://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/en/models/roadster/f900r.html
Even Guzzi did this to the V100. Strapping even a 6" pack on the rear seat would make it difficult to mount from the ground. Otherwise the Transalp looks like a nice motorcycle, most everyone whose ridden one speaks very positive about it.

That's interesting, looks like the gearbox is raised up high behind the engine, as Yamaha have been doing?

What was the seat height like once you had managed to climb aboard.

Seat height was great. Slightly better than the Tenere. (See below)

Price/value? Mmmmm that's got to be a personal call Alistair. I'd say yes for the extra power, acceleration, modes, ( since they come with the package) comfort and cruising speed.

That said, I had a go on a Tenere today and I thought was better than the Transalp. No step up for a start and tho it was a World wossname, I could still get both feet flat on t floor.

Took one out a couple of weeks ago, I'd already decided it was going to be my new steed, struggled to throw my leg over due to hight, once onboard though could manage height ok, found it very vibey but to be fair it only had a few hundred miles on it. Had it for a couple of hour's but to be honest was glad to give it back, great bike just not for me.
Took a cb500x out straight after and loved it  :confused2: it should arrive this month:D

CB500X seems like a really nice piece, especially 2022+, congratulations. I've not ridden one but just sitting on them the ergos feel about perfect and I like that it has tubeless cast wheels.

I rode a Transalp, half expecting to get one but there was something that left me a bit cold about it.Think it’s the fact that all the power is high up the rev range which is not ideal,on that style of bike, unlike in the Hornet where it’s a fun toy.
Sat on a new V-Strom 800 the other day and it looked and felt lovely. Supposedly a great motor with MUCH more midrange than the Transalp even though outfight power is lower.

Looks great in this colour IMHO

Meanwhile , I see that WRS have released some new screens for the Honda

Pretty thorough review by Ian on a VStrom 800 DE.

Rocketman, his best bike hmmmm

I still like it...10 weeks later...will it get stolen on London is my main concern...No, its not a lardy go 10 000 miles in 1 sitting GS. Is it easier to get on and hoon 10 miles an urban waitrose...yes. If I travel off motorway (my main option, always) will it be enough. YES

I'm very lucky to live in a village where I can leave my bikes, garage door open, keys in ignition etc. Horrified by some of the stories on here about khants nicking bikes, would do my head in living in places like that ffs

Same for me (y)

I do get very paranoid about securing bikes when I'm in the UK...its all very sad :(

Yup.
One of the reasons I haven’t ridden in the UK for about 4 years , apart from a few days on my scoot.

Used one appeared on gumtree Aberdeen this morning with 800 miles on it . . .

Is this the 1st private sale of one of these in the UK?
