Now Arsey that's precisely what the gearbox is for!
I’d rather have a bike with mid range stomp than be constantly having to change gear and never find the right one

The trannies a great bike with a lovely engine that loosens up nicely with miles.More than enough mid range for on road and off.Nice quick shifter and ergonomics.Really light feel to the controls and steering. The only thing I felt the need to change was the suspension, so it was off to Maxton.
Its now the perfect light ish dual purpose bike.Similar power to the KTM 790 but unlikely to wear out/ fall apart in 10 000 miles.
Off road tour to Bosnia/Albania coming up.More than happy to take the tranny.
Which KTM did you own that wore out or fell apart in 10,000 miles? The trannies a great bike with a lovely engine that loosens up nicely with miles.More than enough mid range for on road and off.Nice quick shifter and ergonomics.Really light feel to the controls and steering. The only thing I felt the need to change was the suspension, so it was off to Maxton.

Dont be sillyIt has virtually no midrange

Yes.I bought one last September.Found it a bit snatchy at first but its improved a lot with a few miles on it.Have you ridden one ?

It obviously lacks mid range if I compare it to my 1250 RT, but its a great bike in isolation, and really capable off road.As good as the KTM, after the Maxton suspension upgrade
BolloxIt’s such a shame as the Tranny looks great, but , FOR ME , it’s the worst engine Honda have fitted to a bike in years.

It’s not about the Vstrom. It’s about the Transalp. You insist it’s got no mid range based in a short ride on a rental bike. All the reviews I’ve seen say the opposite. My own experience as an owner and that of other owners says the opposite. Even a guy who recently rode one in a similar environment to you says the opposite.Care to elaborate or is that the best you can muster ?
Show me a single review that rates the Transalp above the Vstrom 800

Remind me why you call yourself Arsey
Well the name suits you. You come across as another bored online keyboard warrior who’s uninformed opinion is lawA short ride on a rental bike ?
The bike was a few weeks old and was like new .
I rode it for 8 hours on a huge variety on mountain passes .
I’ve yet to see a review that praises the mid range, probably because it has precisely NONE.
Anyway, I’m not going to argue with you as you are clearly blinkered as you bought the wrong bike.
Enjoy it.
And I call myself Arsey as I used to have an RC8 back in the day so was Arsey8, but dropped the 8 when I sold the bike.
Remind me why you call yourself Harry the cat, because you certainly didn’t get the cream

Fell straight into the last word trap I seeYet my opinion is in line with all that have reviewed the Transalp .It’s not uniformed just because you don’t agree with it . I’m sure you’ll be very happy pottering to the local cafe on your gutless bike. Just don’t take it anywhere near a mountain . Ciao.
