Everywhere I dont really want to be...
Hi,

Ive been watching this site for a few months now. Presently I ride a K12RS, which is a good bike - does everything that I need I guess (Havent passed the test yet! BTW Over here after 3 failed attempts apparently they send you to the psychologist????), but recently keep having ideas about a Ewan or Charlie wanna be ....

Ive noticed an 02 1150GSA over here in Switzerland, for about 4100 quid - 33K miles (55K Km). Looks OK in the Photos, bit of a dent in the tank, that sort of thing. Non farkled, genuine used sort of things.

Im preparing to go and have a sniff saturday. Id love an 05 GSA SE...but cant justify that sort of cash for a second bike to the "war department" (AKA Girl friend).

Now, Is it too cheap (the CHF is quite strong at the mo), what sort of things would be normal, fixable, and also what sort of things should I walk away from ? Although it seems cheap - I just want something to commute & have fun with...

Doesn't sound overly cheap to me. But it could still be a good deal

For that money I'd expect something relatively corrosion free with a few extras/toys. I'd guess its been off roaded, which means its probably got some things on.

Typical corrosion points are the forks and the main engine block.

The dent needs to be non-noticeable, as a replacement tank will set you back £700 new. Check alignment of things like the engine bars, and damage to the rocker head covers - the dented tank means its been dropped!

Full service history is important. If its from a dealer then all the better, but if you can find out anything about its history then that should be find.

Don't forget things like tyres, pads etc. which may need replacing and could add up...

Also don't forget its a slippery road to accessory heaven, so your 4k could easily add up to 5 when youve been through the For Sale section on this site, Touratech, etc. etc. :beerjug:
