HI new to forum, and sadlynot a GS rider. However a long time fan just opportunity never arose to get one.

Now for the pleasant dilemma whih I presume I know the answer most of you will give, I currently ride a Versys, great bike does what I want. Can buy a new one for a couple of grand with trade in.

However my dealer has a 04 1150GS with only 10K miles, in blue and white (old dakar colours I believe- the best type), and it is really clean looking not a post of rust etc.

He is encourageing me to go for a Triumph Tiger 1050, 07 modle with similar mileage as the GS. Both about a grand more than the Versys.

How do you convince me to go for a five year old GS?

Object advice only please!

Thanks

Welcome along to the site Hoettie. :)

If your dealer is keen for a sale, as most probably are in the present economic climate, then bag yourself long test rides on each of the two bikes. I don't know about the Trumpet, but a GS needs a lengthy test ride for you to get some idea about them. The usual 2 mile run will tell you nothing IMHO.

After the two good test rides you should have a better idea of which bike suits you best. That's the one to go for. :)

Good luck with it. :thumb2

Aidan has summed it up in one :thumb

I've had over 50 Japanese bikes, and the odd Hinckley Triumph.... got my first 1150 GS in 2003.. and since then just cannot imagine having anything else... its a decision based on how a bike makes you feel ;)

Good luck with your decision:beer:

did the same as you. so nearly bought a tiger had test ridden it and done a deal on price but there was something still in my head about a gs so at the last minute saw one for sale and just went a bought it didn't even take it for a long test ride.. best bike I've ever had even better then me Harley in so many ways,,and i prefer air cooled bike to less stuff to go wrong..only my opinion
