Not sure why it's any better that the current offerings of litre bikes - it'll have to go some to beat the big bang R1 and doesn't look as nice as the Ducati IMHO.
BMW has a market differentiator with its boxer engines. Buy a BMW without a boxer and I'm not sure why you'd buy a BMW. Of course, some would buy a turd if it had a BMW badge and ABS.

Still not sure about the wonky off centre stying that BWM think is stylish
...and I certainly wouldn't buy one with their current recalls/build quality reputation etc etc...but maybe a year down the road, who knows? 
Great bike if you are into that sort of thing.
It should wipe the floor with the big bang R1 which has proved to be unreliable and keeps getting it's arse kicked by last years model in all the race series bar WSB where Yamaha have extra special bits fitted
