Right here goes. Thought I'd stick this in a separate thread.

This is what I looked like with standard set-up:

This is with just Fastways on their lowest setting:

This is Fastways plus about 1 cm higher seat

and about 2cm higher seat:

and standing:

It doesn't look like much, but I feel much more comfortable and I'm further forward. I can go another 2 cm on the seat height without being on tippy-toes so will try that.

But now looking at the bars:

from above:

You'll notice that all the pressure is on the outside of my palm, because the bars bend back towards me to much (compare angle of knuckles vs angle of bars). Even sitting for a couple of minutes while the pics were taken was uncomfortable. I don't see how I can fix this without a new set of bars? Or maybe I'm just a wuss?

Blowtorch and a hammer :D

The 1200 is very swept back at teh grips, and quite a few of us have changed bars. It'll cost up to about £170 for bars and risers, but it really is worth it if you're suffering because of the bar angle.

Nin, Tobers did an excellent report on fitting Renthal bars to his 1200. The work involved shouldn't really be much different for your bike. Look here

Tobers also posted another very helpful thread on fitting the bar ends to his new Renthals. Here.

Hope these help. :thumb

Cheers Aidan and Tobers - I'd seen that and tried it meself.

My only problem is the heated grip wires on the 11** run inside the bars, so I need to create a bar end with a slot cut out of it for the wires to travel through. The 1200 has a much neater solution.

But I'm sure I can tap a thread into the ends of a pairs of Renthals and make up a srew-in bar end thingy that will suit, but haven't been able to find any suitable alloy to use yet.

This post is useless without pics!

Alternatively as Ricardo has been such a sport I might just invest in a pair of his bars. It'll certainly be a quicker option.

You can fit a set of bars from an R , i.e. R1150R ,they fit straight on and use the same heated grips. they're lower and more pulled back - i think tobers had them on his 1150GS, pint6x also has them on his bike - i've a set to fit on my bike ( when i get the time and can be arsed)

Cheers Steptoe, I'll have a look at them.
