If you have fitted Nippy Norman's Verholen 40 mm risers on the 12GS, were the standard brake and clutch hydraulic lines long enough without being over stretched or having to be re-routed? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Hi.

I have the bar raisers fitted.

The clutch line is ok but you have to re-route the brake line because on full left lock it gets rather tight and in danger of putting too much pressure on the brake line coupling.

It’s not a big job to re-route and you don't have to disconnect the pipe to do it.

All that is required is to undo the right hand fork slider at the yolk and drop the fork slider down, reposition the brake line then reverse the procedure, piece of pish.

Once done there's no problems.

Hope this helps.

Hi

I had the same problem with the brake line but took a different approach. I undid the brake lever/reservoir assembly from the handlebars and with a bit of patience and a great deal of swearing just managed to squeeze the whole thing through the gap between the fork and the headstock.

Once reattached to the handlebars the line no longer tightens up.

Choose whichever method you prefer!

Thank you! Could you tell me how you loosen the right fork slider? Would I also have to remove the front wheel to allow only one slider to go down? Thank you for your input.

Hi.

The front wheel does not need removing.
All that’s required is:

1 make sure the bike is on the centre stand.

2 remove the black plastic cover on the right side slider tube top.

3 there is a ni-lock nut under this cover this needs to be undone--under the yolk you will see what looks like a nut, this is to put a spanner on to hold the slider for releasing and re-tightening the nut that’s under the cover.

4 once the nut has been removed with a little effort you will be able to push the slider down the fork leg and get enough clearance to re-position the brake line.

5 reverse procedure to refit.

Hope this helps
