Nippy Norms light brackets

I've got the new Migsel bar and it's really nice, stainless steel and allows multiple sets of lights. Small amount of vibration movement but not really noticable. They are fairly cheap too Moo so that would be my advice. Really easy to fit aswell which is a bonus (3 minutes at most).

I really like the Terranova light bar, but it seems OTT engineering and OTT pricewise.

OTT?

I have a TerraNova light bar on each of my GS Adventures. A light bar for the R1200 GS is available as well.

I chose it after looking at ALL the others because it was the only one with a 4 point mounting system. That makes it extremely rigid and stable which is what you want. You can mount the largest lights on them without worrying about them vibrating all over the place on the roughest of roads.

The quality, fit and finish of the TerraNova is first rate.

All the best,
Alex

i have the nippy norman brackets on my 1150 GS together with the spotlights. in fact i bought the kit with the lights, brackets and relay to work the spot lights off the indicator switch. the brackets are easy to fit and there is a good range of adjustment allowing you to improve the Gs dipped beam problem. As i have not tried other brackets I can not really comment on comparisons . what i would say is that in the 15 months i have had the lights fitted i have not blown any bulbs in the standard BMW lights but i have gone through at least 5 spot bulbs, which makes me wonder if there is a vibration problem.

Over the top = OTT

I have no doubt that the terranova light bar is a good bit of kit, but it's bloody expensive when it comes to getting it shipped over here.

As for the migsel bar, again it's looks a good bit of kit, but it's not quite what i'm looking for.

That is what I thought as well...I now have two of them. Normally, I make my own mods because what is available out there doesn't meet my expectations; the TerraNova light bar did.

US$159 works out to GBP 83. What does "slow boat" shipping cost? What are duties and taxes? It can't be all that much more than other light bars. Now take the difference and spread it over a few years and you'll start to chuckle.

Too bad, I could have brought a bunch over last summer when I passed through London.

I really like the Migsel, super trick. I am very concerned about vibes as that high frequency shit just kills filaments. I'm in the US and have notice most UK posts use smaller (HID, Hella ff50, little PIAA's etc.) where as in the States GSers go for big PIAA's, Hella ff200 and bigger and Lightforce. I want ff50's on top and FF200's below on a Migsel. What are your thoughts from using this bar? I know the Terra Nova is the best, I am not as thrilled with the looks and I like the pre drilled mounting options on the Mig. Oh Yeah, your bike magazine make US mags look like shit, keep up the good work!

FF200: too big and too heavy.

Keep it modest, your aux lights are supposed to be smaller than the stock lights IMHO.

Cheers,
Michel

Just had a look at the terranova light bar and it looks a bit too agricultural for my tastes, Much better bet would be a Migsel IMO.

Dave

Agricultural? Hardly, but then it all depends what you're looking for; a solid set of lights or ones that flicker.

If you want to talk agricultural, just have a look at our GSes...which is the way I like them...practical...functional...just like the TerraNova light bar.

I have one. If you have hepco & becko bars, I suggest you proceed with the utmost caution. Regardless, once fitted, just check there is clearance with the fork stantions on full lock at full compression.
Some twat of an MOT examiner dumped mine off the main stand on full lock, and the bar took a chunk out of the slider (the only none corroded piece of the bike I had left). Admittedl the bar is a bit lower than it would have been if the h & b bars where not fitted, but even now I have are big cutouts to increase clearance, it still would hit on full lock and full compression.
