We are going down from Santander and through Portugal.

My DRZ 400E has main /dip headlight and rear light but no indicators.

Anyone know if this could cause me any hassle with the Police?

Didn't have any hassle but indicators in the pyrenese last year, but its worth sticking mirrors on, apparently they are a must.

Thanks, I have mirrors. But not sure I can be bothered to fit indicators to the DR.

I missed them when I fitst started riding it but have come to terms with shaking a leg or sticking a hand out now.

Just don't fancy a numpty cop pulling me over or blaming me if someone decides to knock me off.

Ah... now that's not what you asked originally ;)

Can't protect against getting pulled and if you have an accident its bound to be your fault ;)
Just carry plenty of euros.

I would imagine that you will slip through the net if you are riding sensibly, but if you ride like a twat and bring attention to yourselves then the cops will use all the laws against you.....

Technically, if the bike is legal in the country it is registered, then it is ok to use on foreign roads. I'm sure there is a treaty amongst European states regarding this.

I went twice last year to Portugal and once the year before, two of the visits were on bikes (DRZ400E, XR600) with no mirrors or indicators, we had no problem with the cops..... that's if we saw one!

Hand signals :thumb2. If indicators arnt fitted you cant use em. Cant see a problem really unless someone knows otherwise. :nenau

No indicators is OK but mirrors are compulsory. Our team (Phase One Endurance) have an end of season trail riding week in Spain each Oct. All sorts of trail and enduro pogos. We were stopped by police and they insisted that mirrors were required. It was explained to them that bikes were road legal in UK without mirrors and that the KTM, Huskies etc have never had them fiited as they are competition bikes but the police were not interested and isued Euro 60 fines. Don't think any of the bikes had indicators.

Best to fit those small fold away bar end ones similar to ones used on Dakar racers.

Another thing to watch out for is "morning after" breathalyser tests. I got stopped one morning at 7.00am and made to blow into machine. Very lucky it wasn't morning after one of our heavy sessions else I might have been over the limit.

Talking to a EXPAT in Spain the Police are not concered about motorists.

Bigger fish to fry, 18 out of 19 in Malaga council are in prison on trial.

Top councilers car in for a service in a MERC Garage on looking at VIN NUMBERS they find it had been stolen in Germany.
