I've got a problem with a pair of panniers, in that one of them is locked shut and no key, is there a way to open the pannier up and then remove the lock, without any damage?.
Can the lock be re-coded to the same key, as the bike, without the original key?

Cheers

Yes, the lock can be 'fitted' to a key. I bought a second hand pair of panniers & bvm in Stroud offered to reset the locks to my ignition key.
Dunno how to open up the locked pannier, though.

If a lock smith cannot open it. Drill out the lock and fit a new barrel from Motorworks or the like and as in the previous post fit the lock to the key. once the case is open removing the barrel is easy.

Another thought......
is there a serial number on the lock-face?
If so, then a b*w dealer should be able to match it, which would 'get you in' without damage.
Good luck!

Hmmmm

....sorry.... there won't be a serial No. if the lock can be "fitted" to a key.
Get that drill out......

key

Got the VIN number from the bike they were off, will a dealer get me a key, even though its not for my bike?

Best ask the dealer, although drilling the lock out & buying a new one will probably be the quickest & cheapest option. Have you spoken to a dealer and asked if they have a solution?

I think I will go for the drill out and new lock option, saves trips over to the dealer.

Thanks

key

Job done now, after cutting the rivets of and removeing the lid, still could not get at the lock, because it was in the lock postition, so thought I would just try my key, my mate (a B*W mechanic) said no way top quality locks.
Guess what it opened them! Typical.
