BM simply do it for a bit of fun so they can laugh at the owners who have to have the latest/top of the range bike

Said owners then cannot work out whether a 1200GSA with all the options ticked gives them better bragging rights compared to a new 1250GS

Real reason I suspect is to use up the old stock of 1200 bits and not having to change 2 production lines at the same time
