No more superbikes for KTM?

Headline grabbing nonsense.... They just don't want to compete in that sector..

Pretty much how I read it too............. otherwise how does a 170 odd bhp Superduke 1290, advertised as a complete out and out hooligan tool, fit in with KTM's supposed new ethos (or pretty much any of their bikes for that matter).

They have form for this kind of thing. How did the long way round end up on BMWs? KTM pulled the plug. Jjh

They obviously bought a new R1 and thought, scheisse we cannot afford to compete with this , our scaffolding poles canny take it !:augie

I think it's a pre cursor to them getting out of the bike market now that Giles and Cato have killed there street cred :D

Nope......that was all TV hype luvvy......BMW offered a big wedge of cash, suport vehicles and mechanic back-up.

PS the article about KTMs doesn't actually say they won't be doing superbikes for the road........he says that a 200BHP superbike doesn't belong there, which is probably true :nenau

Not really....... with KTM being so much smaller back then and unable to match BMW's buying power, it was more of a commercial decision, and probably a great one for both parties.

It would be interesting to see what would have happened if KTM had been able to open their purses as wide as BMW

Or even recreate the trip on KTMs. The equivalent been done many times of course but has anyone followd in the tracks so to speak? Jjh
